The section is known as a Troop formed of patrols headed by a patrol leader ( PL ) and an Assistant patrol leader ( APL ) As part of the troop the scouts will have opportunity to further build on the skills and knowledge they have gained in Beavers and Cubs.
Such as adding to their compass and map reading skills learning how to plan and take part in hikes over much further distances. And to try a wider variety of different activities such as gliding as well as going on visits, and on camps. They will normally get the chance to spend several nights away on camp or overnight hikes over the year.
Scouts like the Beavers & Cubs can also earn badges for activities that they have taken part in and also earn badges for completing challenges, and work towards the highest award in Scouting: The Chief Scout Gold Award.
As with the Beavers and Cubs, to help us achieve all of this we have an expectation that all Scouts will adhere to our code of conduct, this was written in conjunction with the Scout Leaders the Scout Parents and the Scouts themselves a copy of this code will be in the joining pack.
